Sketching

We are learning how to sketch. Sketching is the practice of drawing a rough outline of a final piece art. Sketching can be used to get an idea of how something will look. When sketching it is important not to draw too heavily. Once you start your sketch you should use a light touch and lots of short, quick strokes. This will make it easier to test out different ways of drawing a particular object, and will allow you to rub out mistakes much easier as well.

Making 3D shapes

This Term we have been finding out about 2D and 3D shapes. We have investigated different shapes and the number of sides, corners, points, faces etc. This week we all had lots of fun making different 3D shapes using raisins and cocktail sticks. Take a look at the cubes, cuboids, pyramids, and triangular prisms we made.

Great work Room 6 you all did So well.

3D shapes

This Term we have been finding out about 2D and 3D shapes. We have investigated different shapes and the number of sides, corners, points and  faces.

Sorting shapes by their properties.
Cubes and cuboids have the same number of sides. Spheres and cylinders roll and have curved faces. Cones and pyramids have points. We have had a great time making and finding lots of the shapes too. Come in to Room 6 and see our fantastic shape display.

2D shapes

We have been learning about 2D shapes. How many sides and corners they have. Take a look at the great pictures we created using circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, octagons, pentagons and hexagons.

What shapes can you see?

How many triangles can you see?

Look how the shapes fit together
