Going on a butterfly hunt

For part of our inquiry learning Room 6 took a walk around the junior school gardens to see how many butterflies we could find. We then went over to the senior school to see if we could find more butterflies, and we did. We talked about why we found more butterflies over in the senior school than in the junior school. We made observations about the differences between the two gardens. We then came to the conclusion that the senior school attracts far more butterflies due to the different types of plants growing in the senior school.
We learnt that for a
monarch butterfly to survive it needs nectar for food and there are more flowers to provide what the butterfly needs in the senior school. We really want the butterflies to come and spend time with us in the junior school too, so keep watching our blog to see how we're going to encourage some butterflies to live near our classroom.
