Should we have a lion in the library?

After reading the  The library lion by Michelle Knudsen we brainstormed reasons for and against having a lion in our library. Here are some of the reasons we came up with.
Reasons for

  1. It would help Sue get the books from the high shelves
  2. We could use it as a comfy seat to sit on.
  3. It could use it's tail to dust the books and shelves.
  4. If we feel sad we can have a cuddle with the lion and feel        better.
  5. We could use the lion to help us get our books down.
  6.  It could help Sue issue the books to us all.
  7.  We could ride it round the library carrying our books.
  8. It would be exciting and fun and lots more people would come  to see it.
Reasons against
  1. The lion could damage the books by clawing them and ripping them.
  2. He could be too noisy if he roars really loud and you would not be able to concentrate.
  3. He could eat us!
  4. It might scare all the children with its sharp teeth and claws.
  5. It could claw the carpet.
  6. What if it makes a mess on the carpet? Mark would have to clean it all up and you might slip on it.
  7. You could get scratched when walking past the lion.
  8. Your favourite  book could get chewed up by the lion.
After this discussion we decided to ask Sue what she thought and she was unsure if she would be allowed to have a lion.
But last week she did bring a lion in for us! We all loved sitting on him. Maybe it would be a good idea. What do you think?
