Measurement

Over the last few weeks we have been comparing the length of different objects. We have sorted these objects from shortest to longest and measured their lengths in non-standard units. We used Dylan's body to draw around and estimated (guessed) how many cubes  you would need to measure the length of his body, arms, legs and waist. We had a great discussion on how we could measure around his head and waist. We decided to use string and then to measure the string with cubes. We drew round our hands and feet and measured them. It was interesting to see who had the smallest feet and the biggest hands.
Dylan waiting to be drawn round. How long do we think he will be?

Dylan's shape

Dylan is 75 cubes long
