Rangoli patterns are special pictures that people make outside their doorways on the ground during Diwali. These are made to welcome people who are visiting and also welcome good luck into the home.
We have had a go at making our own rangoli patterns in class. They can be all sorts of different shapes and pictures and they are usually very colourful.

It got really messy! |
First we had to draw our patterns then we used pva glue and coloured salt to colour the rangoli in. It was very tricky but we showed a lot of patience and determination to complete them.
As well as making rangoli we made barfi, an Indian sweet that is eaten during Diwali. Some of us helped put ingredients in. Some helped mix it and we all helped eat it!

I enjoyed sampling the Barfi you made Room 6.....it was delicious! I think it is wonderful that you have been learning all about other cultures and their special festivals!
