The whole school was very lucky to have a special visitor come to Muritai to talk to us about how we can help look after our coastlines in New Zealand.
We are fortunate to live in a part of the world where we can enjoy the beautiful coast right on our door step. The beach can be a great place to have fun but we heard about some very sad stories of some animals who are being hurt because of the rubbish that is left on our beaches and being washed to the coastlines through our storm water drains.
To look after our coastlines and keep all the sea creatures safe we are going to do a beach tidy with the junior school and we're also going to make sure we put our rubbish in the bins.
