Mehndi designs

As part of our inquiry into celebrations and festivals we learnt about the Indian tradition of decorating women and girls hands and feet with delicate patterns known as Mehndi patterns. During festivals such as Diwali women will have their hands and feet decorated with patterns made of orange dye called Henna. We looked at some of the detailed and elaborate designs and then had a go at drawing our own. We made sure the patterns on our hands were symmetrical.

Come into Room 6 to see the amazing display of Mehndi patterns.
