After reading the The library lion by Michelle Knudsen we brainstormed reasons for and against having a lion in our library.
Then we decided to write to Sue expressing our arguments.
Here are some of our ideas:
Dear Sue
I think we should have a lion in the library. My first reason is that it could help you remember where you got a book from. My second reason is it could help dust the shelves with its tail. My third reason is you could snuggle up to it and read. My last reason is that you could stand on it to get books from the high shelves.
So can we please have a lion in the library.
From Emily.
Dear Sue
I think we should have a lion in the library. My first reason is it could clean the book shelves and dust it. My second reason is it could read to us. My last idea is we can lie on it all day. So please get a lion.
From Meg.
Dear Sue
I think we should not have a lion in the library. My first reason is he could scratch the books that could ruin them terribly. My second reason is that he could eat somebody that would turn the floor red. My third reason is that he could break one of the important rules in any library, he could roar! So never bring a lion in a library.
From James
Dear Sue
I think we should not have a lion in the library. My first reason is it could eat someone and that would be bad. My second reason is it could rip the books and then we won’t have any books to read and then it will not be a library any more. My last reason is that it could roar and libraries are supposed to be quite. And so never bring a lion in the library.
From Will
Dear Sue
I think we should not have a lion in the library. My first reason is it could scare people off and the second reason is it can easily break the rules or it could eat someone. Do you really want someone to die? When you are reading the lion can take a deep breath and roooar! So please don’t get a lion.
From Aubrey.
