Sketching shoes

We are learning how to sketchSketching is the practice of drawing a rough outline of a final piece of art. Sketching can be used to get an idea of how something will look. When sketching it is important not to draw too heavily.  Once you start your sketch you should use a light touch and lots of short, quick strokes. This will make it easier to test out different ways of drawing a particular object, and will allow you to rub out mistakes much easier as well.

We started by sketching our shoes. We used white Jovies on black paper.

Taking great care to sketch the outline.

Look at all those great sketching skills. I wonder if anyone was wearing sketchers shoes that day? Did they draw themselves? I can't wait to see the finished artwork in your class. From George's Mum.
