Bread people keeping safe in the sun

We have been thinking a lot about how to stay safe in the sun and wondered why do we even need to be safe in the sun. Some of us thought we needed to be careful because the sun can burn our skin.
We decided to do a little experiment to show how the sun can hurt our skin if we don't protect it.

First we made a person out of bread and we made tin foil clothes.

Then we put our bread people into the oven for just 2 mins. Look how brown they are now.

We thought about what our bread people might look like under their clothes - would they be brown there too? Some of us thought they would still be white under the clothes and we were right. Clothes are a good way to protect our skin from the sun so the sun's rays can't touch our skin.

We also thought of other things we need to do to keep safe in the sun - wear a good sun hat, sunscreen and try to find shady places to play when it's really hot.
