On Tuesday Room 6 went back to the STEM room to watch and wonder at another experiment.
We experimented with baking soda, food colour, washing up liquid and vinegar and created an erupting volcano!
| Waiting for the explosion |
It bubbled up and flowed down the side of the volcano.
| Starting to bubble |
| More vinegar makes it explode even more |
We discussed what caused the volcano to explode.
Claire thought that "the acid in the vinegar caused it to react with the other ingredients."
Later we used a clear cup to see what happened inside the volcano.
| Baking soda, dish washing liquid and food colour |
| Adding vinegar |
| Bubbling up! |
| Fizzing and bubbling |
We wondered what would happen if we had put in warm water?
