Magnificent mazes

We looked at different ways magnets were being used in our classroom, around the school and how we use them in other places.
Thinking about new ways of using magnets in everyday life some of us came up with the idea that we could make games with magnets.
We knew that magnets could work through things so we looked at the idea of making magnetic mazes where you would need a magnet and a magnetic object to travel through the maze.
We looked at some different mazes to see what would make a good maze.

We tried using magnets to move magnetic objects along pathways to see how a maze might work.

Then we made some of our own pathways. We tested these to make sure there were clear pathways to follow.

We then used whiteboards to design some mazes, making sure we had a clear start and finish and clear pathways.
We used paper plates to create a 2D maze, designing them first, making them and testing them out to make sure they worked.
Finally, we made 3D mazes, spending time designing them, making them and soon we will evaluate them to see if they were successful and met the criteria we made.

Take a look at all the great designs.
