Planets in our solar system

We have been looking at the planets in our solar system . We used a really great tool that helps us to measure out a scale model of the distances between the planets. We started with the sun and worked all the way to Neptune, learning a bit about the different planets along the way. We saw just how far away some of the planets are from Earth. Isabelle also brought along a book from the Eastbourne library that gave us some amazing facts about each of the planets in our solar system. We were very impressed by how incredibly different each of the planets are.

Yes it does look a little like Earth is the closest to the sun but Venus is very closely just in front. You might notice that Mercury has made a giant move though. Mercury must have floated away from being the first planet from the sun while Mrs Salisbury got the camera out - oh dear. At least we all know where it's meant to be. How clever we are in Room 6 to have shared and learnt so much about our solar system.

even though it is the 3rd planet from the sun.
