On Friday Georgia Parker's grandad, Murray Parker popped in to share his experience of being on the Wahine 50 years ago. We were excited to hear Murray's stories about what it was like travelling to Wellington. As part of the Otago University cricket team, heading to Palmerston North for a tournament at Easter, Murray was one of many onboard the Wahine. Murray shared how he slept in a bunk on his way to Wellington, how bad the storm was and how hard it was to move around the boat once it had started to list. We had a lot of questions which Murray was able to answer to help us understand more about what it was like on the journey as well as what he did once the boat got into trouble.
Thank you Murray for sharing your story with Room 6 and helping us to understand what it would have been like being on the Wahine.
